Community-college pathways
We value educational experiences from all institutions of higher learning. Our Admissions Committee understands that every applicant's path to medicine is different and unique, and that our choices are often determined by circumstance and necessity. Holistic review allows us to learn about your individual experience and takes into account distance-traveled for every applicant.

Admission policies, in the school's words
Online Coursework and Labs - We accept online courses from accredited institutions; however, our committee prefers that the majority of your classes be taken in person. Because many colleges and universities moved to fully online/virtual formats due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will accept online coursework and labs for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years. This includes prerequisite courses. Pass/Fail Coursework - Prerequisite courses must be taken for a grade. We do accept pass/fail courses for non-prerequisites if they follow the policies of your institution. Because many colleges and universities moved to grading courses on a pass/fail or credit/no credit basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will accept credit as reported from your school for any classes impacted by COVID-related modifications. This includes prerequisite courses. Please find more information at the Geisel School of Medicine website: https://geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/admissions/applying/how-to-apply/ https://geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/admissions/applying/admissions-requirements/ and https://geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/admissions/applying/faq/. Beyond content, class attendance in medical school facilitates social interaction, networking, and engagement in the curriculum. At the Geisel School of Medicine, we encourage in-person class attendance to harness these benefits.
