Admission policies, in the school's words
After receipt of a verified application from AMCAS ®, an automated email from the Office of Admissions is sent to candidates with details about how to access the Katz online supplemental application. MCAT® The supplemental application can be submitted prior to receipt of MCAT® scores. Complete applications will be reviewed after the 2026 MCAT® scores are received. Applications are considered using the most recent MCAT® results (section scores and total scores). Coursework Applicants should demonstrate preparation for the rigors of medical school and achievement in the sciences through completion of a broad range of science coursework and the MCAT® exam. While there are no absolute course requirements, Katz recommends that students complete coursework in Biology, Chemistry (both general and organic), Biochemistry, Physics, Psychology and Sociology. In addition, students should have a broad humanities education and strong writing skills. The Office of Admissions will only evaluate courses completed at a US or Canadian university. If recommended coursework in Biology, Chemistry or Physics has been completed using AP credits, online, at a community college, or through a study abroad program, we prefer to see classroombased, upper-level science coursework in that discipline. Coursework completed online or with P/F grades due to COVID will not negatively impact the review of your application. Grading For the spring 2020 semester, many schools offered the option for Pass/Fail in lieu of a letter grade. This will not impact the review of a candidate’s application. Other All applicants to the MD program are required to complete Casper, an online open-response situational judgement test (SJT). Casper is a scenario-based test that assesses non-cognitive skills and interpersonal characteristics that we believe are important for success in our program and complements the other tools that we use for applicant screening and selection. An individualized holistic review of each complete application including, but not limited to, the candidate's academic history, the college attended, MCAT® scores, Casper results, recommendations, extracurricular activities, work experience, medically-related experience, and community service activities is used to select candidates for interview. While not required, many students have participated in research activities and this information is also considered.
