Admission policies, in the school's words

We seek academically prepared candidates with significant and sustained: * service and community engagement * academic preparation, achievement, and curiosity * leadership and inspiration/agency for change * commitment and personal ethic for social justice & service, specifically to the underserved SSOM carefully reviews criminal histories, institutional actions, behavioral records, and matters of public record submitted by applicants through the AMCAS application, supplemental application, and securely transmitted letters of recommendation. SSOM will consider deferment requests from candidates holding acceptances from May 1 to June 15, 2026. No deferment requests will be considered beyond June 15. Deferment requests require a formal request to the Dean of Admissions and consideration by the Executive Committee on Admissions. SSOM requires that all applicants who apply consecutively for the third time (or more) petition the Admissions Office to have their new application considered. This policy defines an application as a verified application submitted through AMCAS and sent to SSOM via AMCAS in three or more consecutive cycles. Petitions are considered only when candidates upload the document through the SSOM applicant portal (no other petitions will be accepted). Please title the uploaded document 'Petition for Admissions' when providing this information to the committee via your portal. **Additional notes: • MCAT- During the 2027 application cycle, we will accept MCAT scores for exams taken after January 2024. Canceled test administrations may cause you to submit your application later than intended. All applications submitted before the December 11, 2026 deadline will receive full consideration. As in previous cycles, you may submit your primary and secondary applications before taking the MCAT. Suppose you have indicated on your primary application that you are registered for an upcoming MCAT date in 2026. In that case, a review of your completed application will not begin until your most recent MCAT score is received. Alternatively, you may wait until you receive your score before submitting your application as long as you submit your secondary application before December 11, 2026. • Letters of Evaluation - no policy changes. • Interviews - All candidate interviews will be able to select a live or virtual interview option for the 2026 admissions cycle unless otherwise informed. Live interviews will require proof of vaccination before the visit. We will not need or use the VITA or other asynchronous interview platforms during this cycle. • We are encouraged to get to know you personally through your application material; as a result, there will be no support for AI-generated applicant responses within any part of your submitted application (primary or secondary).
