Admission policies, in the school's words

FCoM reviews applications prior to extending supplemental application invitations. We typically are looking for our academic minimums which are a 3.0 GPA and 500 MCAT. Once the supplemental application is received, complete files are reviewed for interview invitation. During this review, all AMCAS and supplemental application materials are reviewed holistically looking for concordance with FCoM Mission, Vision, and Values. Our admissions committee will extend interview invitations on a rolling basis. Most interviews will be held on Friday afternoons. Candidates can expect email communication at each point in the admissions process to stay informed. We understand the time and dedication put into preparing for this application cycle and we are committed to clear communication. Following the interview, candidates are either offered admission, added to the waitlist, or released from the admissions process. Those offered admission are invited to a Second Look event in April. Admission offers are contingent on successful criminal background check, compliance with technical standards, documentation of a bachelor’s degree, and other pre-matriculation requirements. Accepted students will be given access to a website to track their progress on these requirements in May. Any questions about the process should be directed to FCoM Admissions at [email protected].

Interview

MMITraditional / one-on-oneVirtual
Format
Two interviews are included – a traditional open file interview and a structured closed file interview. Each interview lasts 30 minutes. The rest of the interview session is designed for applicants to learn about FCoM and ask questions.
Invitations sent
We anticipate our first interview invitations being sent in August.
Typical interview day
Candidates will be sent information to review and familiarize themselves with prior to the interview day. During the interview session, there will be plenty of time to ask questions and learn more about the topics important to you in selecting a medical school. Two interviews are conducted. One is a traditional open-file interview with a faculty member or member of the admissions committee lasting approximately 30 minutes. The second is a structured interview conducted by a member of the FCoM community that includes standard questions and the interviewer is blind to all application materials. This interview may feel similar to an MMI experience. As a newer school, the interview day is designed specifically to allow time for applicants to ask questions and learn more about areas of interest.
Regional interviews
Regional interviews are not available. All interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Accepted students will be invited to campus to visit.
Video interviews
FCoM will conduct virtual interviews for the 2027 admissions cycle. Applicants can expect information and instructions via email.

Our Mission: The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University is dedicated to cultivating diverse physician leaders of character who embrace a wholeperson approach to healing in a community of service-learning, inspired by character and the love and grace of Christ. Our Vision: Shaping medicine through transformative whole person care. We are united by a common set of value statements: Love Learning Lead by Serving Live with Integrity Heal Together in Humility Welcome Difference Learn more: https://www.belmont.edu/medicine/about/ As a newer medical school, we are looking for students who see themselves in this mission and share these values. Our belief in a whole-person approach to health care informs everything we do – from education, to clinical experiences, to the leadership team we’ve selected. The focus is on you - from challenging academics and robust clinical experiences - it’s personalized education, informed at every level throughout medical school. From the very beginning of the admissions process, FCoM considers each aspect of who you are and what you bring to the learning environment. This focus on you continues when you become a student - with small class sizes, small group learning, and hands on practical experience, our community will support you as you grow into the type of physician you want to be.
